Just one week from today, on June 12th, the 2008 season will begin for the Farmer’s Market in Barker. Here’s hoping this wave of warm temperatures will hasten some strawberries to market; we’re ready for some home-grown goodness!
The Barker Jazz Band leads off our June 12 opening night. The Barker High School musicians will play at 6 p.m. in the gazebo. On June 19 entertainment will be provided by Mike Petraglia. We are looking for volunteer musicians for other market nights. Returning for the market are Huntington farms, Pyskaty Farms with “Ski, the Polish Prince of Garlic,” Dalrymple Farms, Schumacher Farms maple syrup, saplings, bird houses, woodcraft and more, Humble House Gardens with goat milk fudge, soaps and facial scrubs, and the ever-popular Mennonite baked goods. New this year will be treats from the Goodie Barn, The European Meat Market, Tupperware, and homemade muffins and hand-beaded bracelets. Market hours are 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each Thursday night. We are hoping for the return of all of our popular vendors as well as new vendors with antiques, art, crafts, etc. to add to the mix. For more information on being a part of the market season, call Jo Ann Greenwald at 795-3787.
