Do you know someone who has faced breast cancer? I’m tired of seeing friends and loved ones battle this disease. Last year we joined the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Watt Farms in Albion. It’s a great, sprawling farm with a restaurant, country gift shop, ice cream, homemade fudge and more and the walk is a stroll through beautiful orchards instead of pounding city pavement! I signed up a team for the August 19th walk- it’s Barker’s Bosom Buddies-and I’m hoping that some of my readers will join us or make a donation to the American Cancer Society for this event! We all know I’m not able to put on sneakers and go for the walk, and if you’re not up to the walk either, you can join me in the greenhouse, drinking coffee and celebrating with those who are able to walk! There’s a place for everybody!
We are walking in memory of Peggy Wilbur, who was one of Barker’s best and gave her all for the community. We are walking in honor of all our friends and loved ones who battle the cancer monster with courage and hope. There is a link to the right of this post (under Blog Roll) that will take you to the home page of the event, where you can start a team, join my team or make a donation. I am going to start a blog page of tributes in honor or memory of… If you would like the name of someone with breast cancer added to the tributes, leave a comment. Your support is appreciated more than you know!
If you are interested in starting your own team, there is a special Kick-off breakfast at Watt Farms at 7:30 a.m. on August 19th, but reservations must be in by August 5th- so hurry! TOGETHER we can do this!!!
