Art Huntington performs at Thursday’s Farmer’s Market in Barker

The Farmer’s Market in Barker Village Park continues for a few more weeks, and the autumn produce is plentiful. Despite last week’s rain, our farmers were there and customers shopped with umbrellas, taking advantage of the brief harvest season before it ends. Nothing can compare to those vine-ripened fruits and vegetables. Many varieties of fresh garlic are still available and there’s a wide range of produce.

Art Huntington will sing in the park gazebo, and hopefully the weather will be good for a visit with neighbors and friends.  The Goodie Barn folks didn’t make it in the rain last week, so I took an assortment of kids there for treats. As if funnel cakes and deep-fried oreos weren’t decadent enough, Kim and Mike are now serving up deep-fried cheesecake. Ah, comfort food! They’ve added coffee and bagels to the list of yummy stuff, so there’s something for everyone.
