New York’s 4 Steps 4 Kids is a safety program designed to teach parents how to use car seats properly. NY State Trooper Jill Pezzino, Barker School’s Resource Officer, will be at De Lacy Ford from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday with some tips. At this seat check they will recommend that parents and caregivers follow the “4 step” guidelines developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to assure children are secured in an appropriate child restraint based upon their age and size. Parents and caregivers will receive one-to-one installation guidance and child passenger safety education from nationally certified child passenger safety technicians. Bring your vehicle with your child safety seat(s) and child(ren). De Lacy Ford is located at 3061 Transit Road in Elma. A second safety check will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at North Tonawanada City Hall, 216 Payne Avenue. This week’s Chatterbox incorrectly listed the location as Barker School, so please spread the word! Let’s keep those kiddies safe on the road!
